Concerns Triggered.

18 05 2007

I finished the Powerpoint presentation last night and sent it earlier this morning (As in, 6AM early). Bad news? I don’t think it was used at all. Apparently, the one who I was supposed to send the presentation to arrived to school early and couldn’t get the presentation from the Internet. This is *all* my fault. I was supposed to send it the day before, and I was not able to, because of our internet connection died on me, and I finished it about 10PM, meaning all the Internet cafes have already shut down, leaving it unsent and me… annoyed. Why didn’t I finish it two days before?(Am slightly peeved, not at the Powerpoint thing, but the thing below. Pardon my pedantic slur. I’m not even gonna think of a good segway for this post.)

In other crappier news, the Binan elections were deemed a failure. Yes, it was concluded that it was useless and it will be redone 10 days after the announcement. There was rampant fraud and deception everywhere, I’m not surprised that this happened.

On the left side, we had the goons of a certain baked good (*hint hint*), handing out envelopes of money to people who agreed to vote for him, and most people accept the crap-in-an-envelope. There were some people though, that disagreed completely, which made me feel hope for the voters yet.

On the right side, we had a fake election, conducted by a certain rags-to-riches-from-politics (You know what I mean), which was started at *7:00 PM*. The ballot boxes were not yet “received” as they said. Little did the voters know that they have already voted, their vote fabricated for them by the cheater. The one who was holding the ballot box was a supporter of this said cheater, clearly, removing the unbiased factor of the poll watchers and other officials. Suspicious. Word is that the cheater is going broke and must ascend into power to gain back some money and that they will do anything, and I mean anything, to win. They actually even used some indelible ink to make sure that their “trick” was performed smoothly. My mom actually called GMA-7 and a web newspaper and tried to voice out her opinion, GMA-7 didn’t care, the web newspaper was slightly piqued and wanted to ask more.

How can this be? Since when has working for the government become a high-paying position, where the candidates have to go all out cheating to be voted into power? Whatever happened to voting wisely and thinking who would best represent you? What happened to being free to vote without fear of being threathened or bribed?

Seriously. There are some serious issues in this world. When will we ever see a free, fair and stable election?

Leadership Training Seminar Done. Savvy?

11 05 2007

I was on a Leadership Training Seminar last Monday, this year’s banner was all about the Pastoral Spiral (See-Judge-Act). It went smoothly enough, being most of the time immensely gripping, and less commonly being droning. Not that I didn’t learn anything on the droning part, I was still listening intently, despite my repetitive yawning and nodding off to sleep (I haven’t been able to sleep for the first day, so I guess that explains the nodding off to sleep thing). :D

I haven’t been able to sleep prior to the trip, so I was running on pure excitement. We went to the Oasis of Prayer in Tagaytay. I’ll be using some pictures I took for center filler. Pardon the quality, my phone camera is totally obsolete.

I won’t explain the seminars, due to the fact that they might use parts of it on other seminars (I don’t want to spoil the fun :D ), so I’ll just concentrate on surroundings and in-between talks.

Some greenery at Oasis.           Center Cottage From Oasis (1)

The food was overflowing. Seriously. I managed to stuff my face with watermelons (My favorite. :D ), and the veggies (Those salads were delicious). Coffee was plentiful as well, drinking the coffee has become a habit there (Energy recharge), even with the absence of creamer.

The venue was beautiful. The greenery is absolutely perfect, with the wind testament to it. It was slightly hot in the mornings, chilly in the evenings, with the occasional rain showers adding to that coldness. The church surrounded by shrubbery and trees looked fantastic, I didn’t get to photograph it (It just seems wrong. :( ).

Did I mention they had WiFi? I was not stable enough to do whatever you want, but it suffices to surf the internet just like at home. This is the reason I was able to stay up all night the first night. I was watching Erementar Gerad. I finished it. Just to stay awake.

It was pretty awesome. The facilitators and the people in Oasis were very accommodating, warm and welcoming. Not to mention they were very enthusiastic about their current work. Now that’s awesome.

Not to mention the Solidarity Night. It really was the pinnacle of an amazing seminar. The “Minsan sa Isang Papag”, was hilarious. It really showed the talents of every person attending the seminar, and it was rather refreshing to see people come out of their shells and become open to one another.

Overall, it was (IMHO) a very successful Seminar. It’s now up to the people who joined the seminar to manifest what they have learned to the people they come in contact with. I’ve learned a lot, and I really want ELECOM to work, so I will try my hardest. :D

Totally wasting time. 4srsly.

There once was a man named Zekashis,

Always using that laptop of his.

One day, it fell so high,

     Surely it will now die!

Apparently, his catch did not miss.

Ignore that. I was wasting time.

Never gonna happen.

It’s so not possible to remove every instance of this string. Never ever.

I’m posting this. Not to incite people to do illegal stuff, mind you. People really need to be reminded that things cannot be stifled by force.

Look. That’s my schedule next term. Isn’t it weird? I have Saturday classes now. Neural Computing, which I’m guessing involves my neurotic side.

About the 3D thing… I decided to pause a bit on making it. I’m still making it, but I’m giving it a rest. Some things propped up which totally drains my tank and still continues to. I can’t believe I’m still busy during summer break.

On Monday as well, we have our Leadership Training Seminar (LTS), which I am, proudly part of. ELECOM. Sir Pat dragged me into it. Not that I needed pushing. We were asked to bring something personal. Something that is really important to us that we could give away. Yeah, right. Like I would give my girlfriend to just somebody. I’m taking this seriously. I’m thinking if I should give my poetry journal, or a teddy bear, well… more like a teddy dog. That teddy dog is sooo precious, but so is my poetry journal. Damn it.

I was also asked if I wanted to become the Course President for the CS/IM majors. I politely declined. I wanted to, but I know I’d not be able to fulfill the requirements of the position (being not a slacker, good follow-thru,  listening). Sadly, I don’t think my attitudes can be changed in a short time, especially in a tiny little term. So… that’s that. I think.
